Pioneer's DVL-919 was one of the last laserdisc (LD) players available to laserdisc fans. And still, some movie buffs still prefer the analog-video format to digital video. The DVL-919 is loaded with features, including component-video outputs, 10-bit video processing, and a three-line digital comb filter. For audiophiles, the DVL-919 includes 24-bit digital-to-analog converters and offers Dolby Digital and Digital Theater Sound (DTS) outputs.
The player includes a front display dimmer, DTS support for DVD, fast Both Side Play (auto-reverse), frame step play, and a video transfer rate indicator.
I once owned one of these, and bought it with my first hard-earned money when I was around 24 in 1999. It was the last show model the shop had, before LD was discontinued. The DVL-919E can play both PAL and NTSC laserdiscs. NTSC discs can also be output in Pal 60 format. The face plate of the DVL-919E is made of aluminium, while DVL-919's face plate is made of plastic.
The 919 can play the following formats: DVD, Video-CD, Compact Discs, CD-VIDEO, VSD, Laserdiscs (digital sound) and LaserVision (analog sound) and also supports Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG and linear PCM.
